Innovative biotech accesses latest research and development opportunities

VivoMedica plc, a London-based business specialising in the design, development and sale of medical devices in Europe and the United States, has partnered with a European technology company to develop their product and access EU funding through the assistance of the London Innovation Network.

Having approached the Network, VivoMedica was introduced to ett Srl, an Italian software company seeking research partners in the UK to innovate and develop new technologies.

Seeking funding to continue this collaborative research, VivoMedica has since returned to the London Innovation Network for extensive support towards their submission to the Innovative Medicines Initiative programme for €580,000 to fund the development of a new drug screening tool. A second proposal to access the EU's €52 billion fund for research and development, known as FP7, has also been submitted to support investigation into breast cancer diagnostic technology.

Through its extensive European network, the London Innovation Network has assisted VivoMedica to access new partnerships and funding opportunities to enable the research and development of valuable scientific technologies. With no previous knowledge of European funding opportunities, Susan Veness, Finance Director of VivoMedica states: "The London Innovation Network has been crucial in helping us to understand the process required for grant submission." Over the past year, the London Innovation Network has assisted over 2,000 London-based businesses to foster cross-border collaboration, increase research and development, and engage in technology transfer.
